Energy Made Easy for Australians

As of the 1 July 2012, Australians will have access a new independent comparison website called Energy Made Easy launched by the Australian Energy Regulator.
The Federal Government’s Energy Made Easy website will enable consumers to compare rates and discounts from all electricity and gas suppliers in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, ACT, Queensland and Tasmania.

With only a few weeks to go until the carbon price kicks in as part of the Federal Government’s Clean Energy Plan, residents and small businesses in NSW are urged to act now to help cushion the impact of rising energy bills.
According to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART)’s final determination announced today, regulated electricity prices will rise by an average of 18 per cent and gas prices as high as 15 per cent when the carbon price comes into effect on 1 July.

Electricity and gas prices are officially set to rise in NSW on 1 July 2012.
The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal today announced its final decision on electricity and gas prices from 1 July, and the price rises are higher than first thought.
Regulated electricity prices will rise by an average of 18% across NSW and up to 20.6% in some parts of the state. Regulated retail gas prices will also increase by 9% to 15 %.

Unfortunately homes and business can’t hide from the electricity rate rise. Electricity rates are on the increase again, electricity and gas prices have gone up a significant amount over the last five years (in some parts of Australia as much as fifty precent.) the bad news is that there is no indication that prices will go down anytime soon.
